Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.

Be a part of The Connection

We invite South Carolina to have a conversation with itself, and we invite you to get to know your neighbors around the state and in your own backyard.

Talk to us

We’re interested in your stories, your ideas, which issues you’d like to see covered, your advice on how to make the world a better place...

Do you have a story to tell? We want to hear it as well as your ideas, which issues you’d like to see covered, your advice on how to make the world a better place...

We’re looking for stories of people who are using their time, energy and talents to make a difference in the lives of others and stories of people whose lives have been transformed by other people or programs in South Carolina.

Here are some of the issues we want to cover:

Education. Do you know an exceptional teacher? A school that stands out from all the rest? A program that’s changing lives? Have a story about how school changed your life? A book you wish everyone would read?

Economic Opportunity. Do you know of programs that are creating greater economic opportunity for South Carolinians? Programs that teach responsible personal finance management? Got advice for young folks starting out?

Environment. Do you have a story about someone building a green house? Folks who teach kids about protecting the environment? Businesses that recycle? Developments with minimal environmental impact? Are you an organic farmer?

Animal Welfare. Do you know anyone who’s working to rescue or protect animals? Preserving natural habitats?

Business. Do you have a sustainable business? Are you someone who overcame obstacles to start your own business? Is your business making a difference in the community? Are you a woman entrepreneur?

Health Care. We’re looking for stories about free medical clinics, organ donation, cutting edge medical programs, alternative healers . . .

Kids. Do you know any kids doing cool stuff to better their communities?

Nonprofits. Do you know of people around the state who have seen a need and found a way to help solve the problem?

Race relations. We’d like to hear from people who lived through the civil rights movement about how their lives have changed. We’d also like to know about any inter-race dialogues going on, integration of the Latino community, and inter-racial churches.

Religion. Is your church, mosque or synagogue helping to feed the homeless? Repairing homes for the elderly? Promoting understanding and inclusivity?
